FAQs
Are handmade dice balanced?
With absolute mathematical precision? Probably not. Balanced enough for casual TTRPG play? Yes. Our techniques and materials are commonly used in dicemaking, and historically they tend to outperform mass-produced dice in terms of balance. And even then, it takes thousands of rolls to identify any imbalance on, for example, a D20. (source). If you’re not one to worry about balance in mass-produced sets, then you’d have no worries for our dice, too.
What can cause great imbalance is uneven surface areas, voids, and large bubbles; issues we avoid when we 3D model and print the masters ourselves, and by utilizing pressure chambers during resin curing. It’s usually very obvious if something went wrong and the dice is unbalanced, and we won’t sell those.
The closest thing anyone can claim to balanced dice would be graded casino dice. So just don’t use our dice for high-stakes gambling.
In fact, advisably, don’t gamble at all.
Why are your dice that expensive? How are your dice priced?
It comes down to four things: labor, experience, equipment, and care.
Handmade dice are, by default, more expensive than mass-produced dice because they take more time to craft. Both in terms of active physical labor, and by waiting downtime as well. To craft them takes much practice and learning; the production pipeline has a good number of stages that require different skills and know-hows, from 3D printing to number painting. The equipment and tooling we have are specialized, something that one wouldn’t be able to procure, set-up, and operate on a whim. And lastly, we’d like to think that our level of service and scrutiny in our craft is worth the premium label.
How do I take care of my dice?
– Please keep them away from children’s or pets’ reach.
– To clean and restore its polish, gently wipe them with a microfiber cloth.
– For best color longevity, avoid leaving them exposed to sunlight for a prolonged length of time.
– Resin may become tacky and dice may stick to each other in high temperatures. If this occurs, leave dice in a cool place until restored to full click-clack hardness.
– If your dice feel sticky, or you can dent them with a fingernail at room temperature (20°C to 25°C,) please contact us.
